About This Project

This site is two things at once.

First, it's a record of raising Annie: the training, the setbacks, the ordinary daily stuff. It's kept mostly so we stay honest about how it's actually going, and partly because dog stories are just good to read.

Second, it's an experiment, and I'm happy to declare it as one. I'm using Claude to find out what an AI can actually be like as a collaborator on something small, personal and real. Not a tech demo with a dog stapled on: a diary about our puppy that happens to be a fun way of exploring what's possible. As Annie grows, so will the ways Claude is woven into this place, and I'll keep a running list of every one of them:

How Claude helpsEvery place the experiment shows up on this site

The experiment cuts both ways, though. While Claude is learning to run a website about a dog, the dog is busy teaching me things, and I'm writing those down too:

LessonsWhat raising Annie is teaching her humans

The training approach behind it all is positive-reinforcement based, welfare-first, and deliberately unfussy. It's built around someone who works full-time and wants a dog with a strong, trusting relationship, not a checklist of tricks.

I'm Stuart. I've lived around dogs my whole life and love them endlessly; I think they're brilliant companions, full stop.

Outside of that I'm into fitness, following whatever I'm curious about, and running small experiments just to see what turns out to be fun. This site is one of them.

I'm 30, I've got a full-time job, and I always make time for family, human and canine.
